I am so looking forward to the 1st of August. A midsummer delight awaits! That evening I will be guiding live meditation woven through a night of wonderful live music at EartH Theatre in Hackney. The event is called Hush, and I really cannot wait to share it with you. Together with four amazing artists we’ll be bringing music and meditation together as one immersive experience, so the two flow into each other. Rather than treating meditation and music as separate activities, Hush explores the idea that receptive embodied listening can itself become a form of meditation.
An evening unlike most evenings
EartH Theatre is an intimate venue, and that matters for an event like this. Supported by the space Hush offers a rare opportunity to step away from distraction and experience into an evening of music, meditation and mindful listening designed to leave you feeling both grounded and inspired. Four artists perform across the night, and their music interweaves with me leading short guided meditations. The design of it is careful and sensitive. Rather than rushing from one thing to the next, the whole night creates space for the qualities of mindfulness I love – depth, sensitivity, presence, connection and joy.
Why I love this kind of event
I always want to share mindfulness and compassion in creative ways, and Hush feels like a beautiful expression of that. There is something powerful and liberating about taking mindfulness into places where people might not expect to find it – taking it out of the box!
Music and movement have always been part of how I practise. I practice conscious dance, most particularly the 5 Rhythms, and I consider this absolutely to be meditation. Presence is not confined to stillness, or to any activity in fact. It lives in the body, in the senses, in connection. Presence is embracing the fullness of being human, a heart-full awareness I try to bring into everything I do, including an evening like this one.
What to expect on the night
Hush is a mindfulness event featuring stripped-back, ambient, and acoustic performances with short guided meditations. The musical style leans heavily toward “quieter,” atmospheric, and immersive soundscapes including folk and ambient artists like Steve Gunn and Ghuraba contrasting with contemporary soul and electronica from Anaiis and Loula Yorke. The guided moments are woven gently through the music, so they’ll feel natural rather than formal. You simply arrive, settle in and let the evening carry you. The atmosphere in the room, the sounds, the stillness between the notes, all of it will become part of a rich experience.
If you are curious about how I work more broadly, this evening is a good window into it. I am drawn to the unexpected meeting places, the intersections where mindfulness and art and the depth of human experience find each other. Hush is one of those places.
Come and practise with others
One of the things I find most moving about events like this is the personal connection. Sitting in a room with other people, everyone giving their attention to the same sounds, the same stillness, creates something unrepeatable. It is a particular kind of togetherness.
I hope you’ll join me for some play and discovery…that’s the spirit of mindfulness, thinking outside the box.
If you find after the evening that you want to keep exploring this kind of practice, every 1st Wednesday of the month I offer an evening of practice, and if you’re already on your way the In Good Company membership community is a warm, steady place to do that alongside others throughout the year.
Hush takes place on the 1st of August at EartH Theatre in Hackney. I would love to see you there. You can book your place for the evening here, and if you have any questions at all, please feel free to get in touch.
